Wildlife Photography at the 1800s*

Do you imagine being inside an ox to take a picture of some bird’s nests? This sounds unbelievable, because now we have a lot of modern equipment to take pictures and even film in 3D.
Well, those things weren’t available at 1890, but somebody had to do the hard work. To take good wildlife pictures, two Yorkshire brothers were willing to use strange methods, maybe really strange. It’s about Richard and Cherry Kearton.
These two brothers were able to get inside a fake ox; they converted a sheep into a pneumatic camera, they slept in trees, or even they built giant rocks to get inside and put the camera in a hole. The tried all these methods to hide and take pictures of natural life. They were interested in insects, birds and mammals.
Of course they suffered several damage, like back pain, attacks from seabirds, and a lot of falls. However, they took the firsts wildlife photographs with a cheap box camera. As time passed, they built more cameras, always keeping their singular style. Now, one of many Kearton brothers’ film camera has been bought for £4,000 by the National Media Museum in Bradford, England.
The camera belonged to Cherry Kearton, and it will be exposed in exhibitions of the war and wildlife photography, as a spokeman of the museum told to The Guardian.

Hi, this is the first post in 2013. The last year I used my blog in the classes with Henry, when I coursed "pre intermediante level". Today I'm on the last course but I preferred to keep the blog.

My name is Paula Isadora, but all people call me just "Paulilla". I was born in 1991, the year of the "Cold War" and the creation of the videogames character "Sonic"... and others celebrations.  I'm from Copiapo, a little and deserted city in the north of Chile, but I have lived in Santiago for four years. All my family is in Copiapo.

Since 2010 I'm in journalism at Universidad de Chile and I think that this career is interesting and dynamic. Also, in this place I found so many good friends.

About my hobbies, I really like going to squares and parks as "Parque Forestal", and talk all the night with my friends. Also I enjoy reading books, listening good music or playing an instrument.

Thanks for reading this biography.

Hi bloggers, Do you have a nice day? I hope have a good day

This is the last post in my blog :(  because the class with Henry going to over soon.

First, this experience with my personal blog was interesting and specially fun. That's why "the blog class" was my favourite subjet  this year, because when I write in this i used my imagination and skills.

The positive things of the experience blog  was the group whit I shared this year. Everypeople, includiying Henry, was so nice and cheerful, but sometimes they turn a little serious, especially when they to do a test. The better article that I wrote was "your favourite book". In this post i wrote about The metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. In this article I can show to my classmates the literature that I like.

The negative things was the day of the class, I prefer the class on Friday, because the classroom when we worked was very warm :3 Also, I don't like so much the test like "calculate your ecological footpring", because the process to resolved it was so boring and complicated.

I think that my english improve so much, because before this class my lenguaje was very pathetic hahaha My skills in english are better than the old skills. I appreciate this a lot.

This is all :)

Hi, dear bloggers (?)

Today it's cold :( I don't like so much this situation haha

Well, today I will talk about my carrer, specially about a great exponent of this. His name is Tomás Eloy Martínez and he is a argentine journalist and writer, who died since two years ago. He born in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina in 16th July of 1934. Martínez obteined a degree in Spanish and Latin American Literature of the University of Tucumán. In his life he worked in a lot of means of comunication like La Nación or the magazine Primera Plana. A very brave means in the dictatorships in Argentina. That's why he was fired at the behest of facto goverment and after he goes to Venezuela.

In the exile Martinez worked in the newspapers of this country, but live there was very dangerous, because in an occasion almost he died for a military group. After that he returned to Argentina he wrote columns in La Nación newspaper and teach the jorunalism. Also, he wrote a lot of books as Santa Evita, The Argentine Dream, The Memoirs of the General and others publications.

I like this jounalist because i think that he was very brave in difficult times, especially in the dictatorship lived in his country. He wrote the truth without afraid. This is so admirable and he is an example for all journalists.

Hi friends, ¿how are you? i hope that you're fine.

Today I will talk about my favourite book, "The Metamorphosis" writing by the czech novelist, Franza Kafka. I really like reading any books, especially of science fiction, social problems and many topics more. This book is very interesting for me, because this was the first work that i understood.

When I read "The metamorphosis" I was thirteen years old, and the story shocked me especially for the existentials problems that Gregor suffered in his short but melancholic life. Since this moment I felt the emptiness of the modern men in a huge but complicated world.
Definitely this is a great work. "The Metamorphosis" make you think and to question to yourself the meaning of the life.

Here a example when Gregor Samsa discovered his transformation in an insect. This is the beggining of the story.

One morning, as Gregor Samsa was waking up from anxious dreams, he discovered that in bed he had been changed into a monstrous verminous bug. He lay on his armour-hard back and saw, as he lifted his head up a little, his brown, arched abdomen divided up into rigid bow-like sections. From this height the blanket, just about ready to slide off completely, could hardly stay in place. His numerous legs, pitifully thin in comparison to the rest of his circumference, flickered helplessly before his eyes.

‘What’s happened to me,’ he thought. It was no dream. His room, a proper room for a human being, only somewhat too small, lay quietly between the four well-known walls. Above the table, on which an unpacked collection of sample cloth goods was spread out (Samsa was a traveling salesman) hung the picture which he had cut out of an illustrated magazine a little while ago and set in a pretty gilt frame. It was a picture of a woman with a fur hat and a fur boa. She sat erect there, lifting up in the direction of the viewer a solid fur muff into which her entire forearm disappeared.

"The Metamorphosis" (original German title: "Die Verwandlung") is a short novel by Franz Kafka, first published in 1915. It is often cited as one of the seminal works of fiction of the 20th century and is widely studied in colleges and universities across the western world. The story begins with a traveling salesman, Gregor Samsa, waking to find himself transformed into an insect.

This review is very short, but i would agree.  This novel is often cited across the world, because this is an amazing work, and the most brilliant book of literature, in my opinion.

One of the best books in the history of literature

Have a lot of patience. When you get in the university, especially in the ICEI you have to be a patience person and don't get upset for having to wait to your teachers or in Secretary of Studies.

Always carry you TUI. The TUI is the identity card for students and if you're a student at Juan Gomez Millas with this TUI you can entry at any time and go to anywhere inside the campus.

Have lunch at the ICEI's food hall. When you're hungry you must go to the best place to have food in the campus, the ICEI's caffeteria. Here you can find a lot of menus, includying vegetarian lunches.

Hi friends, i hope that you're having a nice day :)

This day i'm going to talk about my favourites TV series...
In fact, i don't have one favourite tv show, because i like so many series of drama, anime, gore kind, comedy and reality. But since a few months i'm watching a spanish serie that is so cool. This program is "Malviviendo".

Malviviendo is an online series produced by Different and directed by David Saiz. It employs mostly non-profesionals actors, and those involved in the series do it for free. The series is set in the fictional neighborhood of "Los Banderillos" of the Spanish city of Sevilla. The characters are a group of friends trapped in their everyday bad livesrelated to consumption of cannabis or other problems related to the uniqueness of each character.

I really like this program, because is different than other series of Spain. This show have drama, humor and a critic view about the poverty in Europe. Also, is online and i can watch everyday in Youtube.

Here, the first episode of Malviviendo. Enjoy it!
